Project title: iCo-op: Industrial Cooperation and Creative Engineering Education based on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation

Project aim is to empower university-enterprises partnerships in Armenia, Georgia, and Ukraine by modernizing engineering education based on remote engineering and virtual instrumentation enhanced with transversal knowledge and competences at universities; and offering contemporary methods of the vocational education and 

training for adults in enterprises


Ico-op wider objectives:

- To establish methodology for identification and monitoring of knowledge and skills due to the needs of labour market by June 2013.

- To deliver a learning program that will incorporate transversal and electronics/ alternative technologies using remote laboratories and virtual instrumentation knowledge and competences by July 2015.

- To build mutually beneficial and sustainable partnerships between academia and enterprises by offering internship programs for university and up-to-date industry training programs by Sep 2015.

 

Activities of the project partners are:

  • Setting the Expert Panel;
  • Questioning and interviewing of the State Placement Services Staff;
  • Developing of the controlled Academia/Industry linkage;
  • Developing of the identification of knowledge/skills needs;
  • Exploring of the EU advanced experience at "HEI to Career" program
  • Development of a guide for initiation of VET at IND partners
  • Drafting and establishing of the program conceptual design;
  • Designing of functionalities/instruments o leaning environment;
  • Drafting of mapping/planning of learning environment structure;
  • Implementation of learning environment (pilot);
  • Implementation of tools “Communication and Collaboration”;
  • Testing of learning environment;
  • Finalizing of learning environment;
  •  Development of module specifications;
  •  Setting of remote laboratories at Universities;
  •  Design and production of transversal modules;
  •  Design and production of modules for industrial needs;
  •  Design and production of modules with basic knowledge;
  • Drafting/translation of instruction/guidebook of module content
  • Transversal competency/skills in engineering;
  • Organizing of workshops for tutors/mentors;
  • Training of HEI/ IND participants (pilot);
  • Providing of integrated internship program;
  •  Monitoring of learning process;
  •  Preparing/delivering of training for authors/tutors;
  •  Evaluation of modules
  •  Participation in summers schools;
  • Quality control and monitoring, dissemination of project results, providing of project sustainability and management.

 

Expected project results are:

  • Setting of the University-Enterprise Executive Board; signing of Memorandum of understanding and cooperation;
  • Analysis of the labour current situation and needs: Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine. Concept of “Partnership University – Enterprise”;
  • Open learning environment - «i-Co-op»;
  • Organization of virtual/remote laboratories, setting of modern educational/research equipment;
  • Twenty four engineering modules with the application of remote/virtual instruments will be developed and enhanced with transversal competencies;
  • Business plan of VET programme: higher education and engineering training;
  • Mutually beneficial partnership between academia and enterprises due to the internships and up-to-date educational training programs;
  • Development of methodology for detecting and monitoring demands for skills and knowledge in engineering;
  • Pilot implementation of the educational VET program: higher education and engineering training;
  • Enhancement of qualification of the interested parties (professionals from enterprises, students, PhD students, University staff);
  • Teaching of educational programs which combine transversal knowledge and competencies with the application of remote laboratories/ virtual instrumentation;
  • Preparatory courses for tutors/instructors/mentors;
  • Training of future authors and tutors of VET program;
  • Cooperation agreement of the project partners and mutual education program.

 

Expected influence of the project in Ukraine is the following:

«iCo-op» will disseminate the methodology and resources for the development of studentscompetencies according to the demands of modern industry. The results will have influence on educational and economic transformations in partner-countries.
